When the Heart knows Allah

Before the Sahaabah memorised the Qur’an, before they perfected their prayers, before rituals became routine, their hearts first knew Allah. Love blossomed within them like a spring, and from it obedience flowed as naturally as water.

Knowledge followed devotion; action flowed from certainty.

From this love grew four daily practices:

Mudhakarah

Speaking and listening about Allah’s greatness, marvelling at creation — the sky, the mountains, rivers, the smallest creatures — and letting Subhanallah escape naturally from awe, not obligation.

Ta’leem of Fadhaail

Knowing the virtues of every deed, so that every act — small or great — was an offering of the heart, a reflection of devotion.

Pure Intentions

Aligning every word, every gesture, every choice with Allah’s pleasure. Life itself became 'Ibadah.

Dhikr and Du’a with concentration

Remembering Allah fully, letting heart and mind meet, bridging the seen and unseen, the fleeting and eternal.

Within these practices, their hearts deepened in four dimensions of reflection (Imani Mudhakarah):

Ma’rifatullah (Recognition of Allah)

Seeing power in the harmony of the universe, in creation that speaks without words.

Mahabbatullah (Love of Allah)

Counting blessings, feeling gratitude, letting love shape every action.

Nafi wa Ithbaat (Negation and Affirmation)

Understanding that water does not quench thirst, medicine does not heal, help does not arrive — except by His command. Here, certainty (Yaqeen) takes root.

Magheebaat (Awareness of the Unseen)

Remembering death, the grave, and the Hereafter, letting eternity guide every moment, every choice, every intention.

From this foundation, obedience became effortless. Prayer, patience, charity, and sacrifice flowed naturally, because their hearts had already chosen Allah.

The lesson remains for us today:

Love must come first. When the heart knows Allah, the hands follow. When hearts are certain, intentions are pure. When love guides, life itself becomes worship. Let us plant this love in our hearts, in our homes, in our children — so that devotion grows deeply, naturally, enduringly, and forever.
